Housing, Transportation, Employment & Education

• Lack of Affordable Housing

• Dissolution of affordable communities inside the urban core

• Barriers due to history: bad credit, eviction, or justice system involvement

• Disconnected public transportation for working poor and/or unreliable personal transportation

• Barriers to living wages and career paths

• Financial chasm between public assistance and independent living (no intermediate step in the cost of living)

Food Security, Equitable Access & Family Services

• Economic instability becomes a barrier to healthy foods and lifestyles

• Help during family crisis is based on affordability and capacity of human services system

• Inequitable access to services and resources creates disparities in basic needs

Mental Health & Primary Healthcare

• Needs yield to vulnerabilities and ”risk” increases for incidents of trauma, chronic health conditions, exposure to victimization, violence and crime.

• Financial instability increase the occurrence of fees and penalties and sometimes opens the door to the judicial system.

Justice System Involvement

• Oddly enough, there are no barriers getting involved with the justice system – just exiting.
